Midnight Reign was using the Green Goblin’s schtick from the 1st Tobey Maguire era Spider-Man movie. Now, I anticipate an ” NOBODY SAYS NO TO ME ” freakout from her on the next page. On a side note, facial expressions after someone gets punched in the face on this comic are hilarious !
Yeah, I think that I heard that line before: “Join me and together we will end this destructive conflict and rule this galaxy together as father and son!” The script never changes, only the details of the players.
Finch taking advantage of the intimate shoulder touch to let MR negate her own range advantage by entering melee range. Falling for a sucker punch is one thing, but actually walking into the reach of someone you know to be a skilled martial artist is all on you, Midnight.
To be fair, Reign took a full-strength hit from Gamma Cutie earlier and got back up. She hasn’t got much reason to fear simply getting smacked in the face with a stick, martial artist or not. Finch probably needs to break her gear to win this.
Risking death on a weekly basis and then being ‘rewarded’ by trial-by-media afterwards, led by a rabble-rousing muck-raking ‘journalist’ seeking cheap publicity. Well, if they wanted a villain, she’d give them one.
She didn’t see that one coming.
Of course, now that the element of surprise is lost…
On the other hand, she claims to have respect for Finch, but it’s likely she and her ego are still
underestimating our plucky, unpowered heroine.
This means that the Element of Surprise is not completely lost and that’s something a smart, capable fighter can always take advantage of. So it’s still anyone’s game.
I’m eagerly awaiting Midnight Reign getting the beating she so richly deserves, and that is rather overdue.
Equal? Why would Finch want to lower herself to their level?
Never assume the “powerless” one is the weak member of the team.

finch: I see your argument, I understand it but, counterpoint; *metal pole*
